Patients Guide | Compounded Topicals | Massage Therapy
The Fibromyalgia Network is committed to improving the lives of patients with fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), and as part of this mission, we provide educational brochures, free-of-charge, to patients and healthcare providers. Currently, three brochures are available for fibromyalgia, each with a different focus. A picture and brief description is provided below.
Fibromyalgia
Syndrome (FMS)
- A Patient's Guide
Designed for recently diagnosed patients with fibromyalgia. Provides an explanation of what it feels like to have fibromyalgia and how this condition overlaps substantially with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), a description of common symptoms, how the diagnosis is made, and a general description of frequently prescribed therapies (both drug and nondrug). If you are hungry for knowledge beyond the basics of this syndrome, we strongly recommend that you become a Member of Fibromyalgia Network.
Fibromyalgia
or Chronic Pain?
Learn what your compounding pharmacist can do for you!
Designed with the chemically sensitive patient in mind. Covers the use of common topical gels for pain (with a brief description on how they work), individualized hormone replacement therapy for postmenopausal women, and other helpful therapies that may involve a prescription for a compounding pharmacy.
Massage
Therapy for Fibromyalgia
- The Healing Power of Touch
Professional massage is a nondrug therapy highly endorsed by patients with fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS). This brochure explains why patients find relief from massage, the symptoms it is most likely to relieve and why, the massage therapy approaches that patients prefer, typical therapy schedules, and recommendations on how patients can prolong the beneficial effects of each session.
Patients may receive five copies of any of the brochures described above. Share them with your family, friends, and healthcare providers. Or, if you are looking for bulk quantities of brochures (e.g., healthcare providers or support group leaders), you can request multiples of 50. The brochures are free of charge; we only require a self-addressed envelope with affixed postage. Brochure requests must be accompanied by a completed copy of our "Brochure Request Form," which also includes further instructions. To download the Brochure Request Form, click the link below:
