Drug Side Effects & Beneficial Meds Survey
(Results published in issue #74, July 2006)
Curious
about how other people with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome respond
to medications? If you were to try a new drug today, which meds have the most
potential to help you with the least amount of side effects? These questions,
and more, are the focus of an article in the July 2006 issue of the Fibromyalgia
Network Journal, in which over 1,000 patients responded. See PDF below
for the survey questions.

Nondrug Therapies Survey
(Results published in issue #66, July 2004 and issue #67, October 2004)
Have
you ever wondered what nondrug therapies might be effective in alleviating
some of your fibromyalgia symptoms? Fibromyalgia Network conducted a survey
to find out which nondrug therapies patients find most helpful.
The questions that were asked are presented in a PDF below, and the initial results were published in the July 2004 issue of the Fibromyalgia Network Journal. In addition to the 1,120 patients who responded, over 100 doctors responded to the physician version of the questionnaire. Physicians were unaware that patients were surveyed, and vice versa. The physician version of the survey differed slightly from the patient one. While patients were asked their gender, age, and duration of symptoms, physicians were asked their medical specialty and the number of fibromyalgia patients they treat.
Preliminary results of the survey are presented in the July 2004 issue. Part 2 of the survey is presented in the October 2004 issue. This second article included patient and doctor feedback about WHY given therapies are effective, along with published findings on selected approaches. See PDF below for the survey questions.

Expectations Survey
(Results published in issue #65, April 2004)
The
April 2004 issue of the Fibromyalgia Network Journal included an
article about what patients can realistically expect from prescribed treatments.
The article addresses such questions as:
- Do patients who are very educated about their condition have different expectations than those who are just beginning to learn about fibromyalgia?
- Do fibromyalgia patients adapt to their symptoms over time?
- Are expectations influenced by how many therapies a person has tried, or by how they rate their symptoms?
- How do your expectations compare with those of other patients?
- What do treating physicians say are attainable goals with the therapies that are currently available?
- What new therapies are on the horizon?
In addition to feedback from expert clinicians, the article presented the results of the Expectations Survey. See PDF below for the survey questions.
